What is a private server in this amazing game

A private server (also called a VIP server in the Roblox UI) is a Roblox-billed subscription that gives your group a private instance of this amazing game on Roblox. No random players can join. The owner controls the player list and the server stays alive even when nobody is online.

Private servers are useful in a small number of cases and actively harmful in several others. This guide walks through both, including the exact features that are disabled inside one, so you can decide whether the monthly Robux is worth it for your playstyle.

If you’re brand new to the game, finish the Getting Started guide first. The recommendations below assume you already know the menu layout.

Cost

Private servers in this amazing game follow the standard Roblox VIP server pricing tier for the game’s place:

  • Cost: 200 Robux per month (renews automatically).
  • Free trial: Roblox occasionally offers a 7-day trial during promotions. The wiki tracks these in the Updates hub.
  • Cancellable anytime: yes — refunds are prorated if you cancel mid-month, the same way every Roblox VIP server works.

For comparison, a single Premium coin pack (large) is 400 Robux once, so a private server costs about half a Premium pack per month. The Robux vs Free guide has the broader value math.

What carries over

Almost everything about your account carries into a private server:

  • Your wallet — Points and Rocoin balances transfer in.
  • Your inventory — every catalog item you own is active.
  • Your achievements — progress counts identically.
  • Your settings — see the Best Settings guide for the recommended configuration.

The only thing that changes is the server context. The game still runs the same code, the spawners still drop the same Rocoin, and the catalog is identical.

What gets disabled

This is the part most players miss. Several features do not work inside a private server. Knowing them upfront saves you from paying for a month and then being disappointed:

  • Codes are disabled. The redemption API still accepts the input but the reward is not credited. The All Codes page is therefore useless while you are inside a private server.
  • The daily wheel boost is disabled. You can still spin the wheel, but the spin is treated as a free spin, not a daily reset spin, so the multiplier is lower.
  • Achievement progress for server events is disabled. You can still attend server events, but they do not count toward the Event Wins achievements.
  • Server event timing shifts. Server events are time-since-instance-creation based, so on a fresh private server you can wait 4–6 hours for the first event. On a long-running private server the cycle stabilises.

These four disabled features are why most free players should not subscribe. If codes and achievements are your primary progression track, a private server will silently cut your earn rate.

When a private server is worth it

A private server is the right call in three specific situations:

  1. You have a small group of friends to play with. The “party server” use case is the original Roblox VIP server design and still works well. Private servers handle up to 12 concurrent players, more than enough for most friend groups.
  2. You are testing a build. The Tier List recommends specific items for specific builds, and a private server lets you test combinations without strangers interfering. The Points Calculator is the right tool for planning this.
  3. You want stable, predictable progression. Private servers do not have stranger trolls, kick abuse, or sudden disconnects from capacity. If your connection is stable and you play during off-peak hours, a private server removes the main variable in your Points-per-hour.

When a private server is NOT worth it

A private server is the wrong call in four common situations:

  1. You rely on codes. Codes are disabled. If your main progression track is the Code Farmer method, a private server removes that entirely.
  2. You are hunting the Event Wins achievements. Achievement progress for server events is disabled in private servers. The Achievements guide covers the Event Wins category in detail.
  3. You are chasing the daily wheel boost. The boost is disabled inside private servers. The How to Get Points Fast guide assumes public servers for the boost math.
  4. You play solo most of the time. A private server with one player is just an expensive single-player instance. Public servers at 70–90% capacity have better events, faster wheel resets, and cost nothing.

How to set one up

To create a private server for this amazing game:

  1. Open the game’s Roblox page.
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the green Play button.
  3. Select “Create Private Server” (sometimes called “Create VIP Server”).
  4. Name the server, confirm the 200 Robux per month price, and finish checkout.
  5. Invite friends via the “Manage Server” tab using their Roblox usernames.

The Best Settings guide covers the in-game configuration steps once you have the server running.

How to cancel

Cancellation is one click in the Roblox game page:

  1. Open the game’s Roblox page.
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the green Play button.
  3. Select “Manage Private Server” then “Cancel Subscription”.
  4. The server stays active until the end of the billing cycle.

Refunds are prorated to the unused days, following the standard Roblox VIP server refund policy.

Common pitfalls

  • Forgetting that codes are disabled. If you redeem a code from the All Codes list while inside a private server, the in-game confirmation appears but the reward never lands. Always leave the private server before redeeming.
  • Subscribing during a code drop window. If you sub on the same day a code drops, you cannot redeem it inside the server. The Redeem Timer widget tracks drops.
  • Sharing your server link publicly. Once a stranger has the link, the server is no longer private. Keep the link inside your friend group only.
  • The Wiki hub has every guide linked from one page.
  • The Best Settings guide covers the recommended configuration.
  • The Redeem Timer widget tracks code drops so you can plan your subscription windows.
