Common Mistakes in this amazing game — Beginner Traps to Avoid

Why we wrote this guide

Every beginner in this amazing game falls into at least one of the traps below. We catalogued the eight most expensive ones during the August 2026 patch window. Skip these and you’ll save about a week of grinding.

If you haven’t read the Getting Started guide yet, do that first. Most of the mistakes below happen because players skip that walkthrough.

Mistake 1 — Spending Rocoin on cosmetics before S-tier unlocks

Rocoin is the premium-feel currency. The shop is full of cosmetics priced 50–200 Rocoin that look great but provide zero gameplay value. Don’t buy them until you’ve hit the S-tier unlock tier from the How to Unlock Items guide. The S-tier items pay for themselves; the cosmetics don’t.

The Tier List flags every S-tier cosmetic so you know what to save for.

Mistake 2 — Buying the Premium daily spin with Robux

The Premium daily spin pays ~2× the regular wheel. It costs 20 Robux. The math: 2× wheel value (~250 Points extra) over a month is ~7,500 Points, which is worth about 75 Robux of grinding. You lose 145 Robux per month. Don’t.

The Robux vs Free guide has the full calculation. If you really want a Premium boost, buy the monthly Premium subscription — at least it includes other perks.

Mistake 3 — Playing in private servers

Private servers disable codes, the daily wheel boost, and the server event multiplier. That’s about 30% of your Points-per-hour gone. Private servers are useful only when you’re playing with a friend in another region. Otherwise, pick Standard.

The Best Settings guide has the full server-pick checklist.

Mistake 4 — Skipping the daily reset trick

The daily wheel resets at 00:00 UTC. Most players spin whenever they remember, which means they often burn through the entire 24 hours between spins. The How to Get Points Fast guide has the trick — log on at 23:55 UTC, spin at midnight, then log off again. You get a fresh spin almost immediately.

Skipping this trick costs you a free spin every other day.

Mistake 5 — Reading the wiki in random order

This wiki is organised by game stage. Reading the Tier List before you’ve finished the tutorial is overwhelming and the recommendations won’t apply yet. Read in order:

  1. Getting Started
  2. How to Get Points Fast
  3. How to Unlock Items
  4. Robux vs Free
  5. Tier List
  6. This guide.

Reading out of order wastes your time.

Mistake 6 — Buying the limited-time 2× boost

Every few updates, the developer offers a 2× Points boost for 100 Robux. The math: 2× Points over a week (~17,500 extra Points) is worth about 175 Robux. The math is positive but only for active players, and only if you actually grind the full week. Most casual players buy the boost, then log in twice, and lose.

If you’re not going to play 5+ hours that week, skip the boost.

Mistake 7 — Sharing your Roblox password

Every Roblox code or “Robux hack” YouTube video asks to a Roblox password “to add Robux to your account”. Every single one is a phishing scam. Never share your Roblox password with anyone, including “MMZ // MM2 staff” — the dev team will never DM you for your password.

If your account gets compromised, the Updates hub has a recovery guide.

Mistake 8 — Ignoring the Updates hub

Every major update from MMZ // MM2 changes the math. Items get re-tiered, Premium perks get buffed, daily wheel payouts shift. If you don’t follow the Updates hub, you’ll grind using last month’s optimal route and miss the new meta.

Bookmark the Updates hub. We re-test every guide within 48 hours of any update.

What to do instead

Once you’ve avoided the eight mistakes above, the rest of the wiki pays off:

  • The Tier List tells you what to spend Rocoin on.
  • The Tools hub has calculators that turn grind math into one-tap answers.
  • The Players hub tracks the top earners and what builds they use.
  • The Updates hub tells you when the meta shifts.

Read the rest in order and you’ll be endgame-ready in about 4–6 weeks of free play.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What's the single most expensive mistake?

Mistake 2 — buying the Premium daily spin with Robux every month. It costs you ~145 Robux per month and most beginners don't notice the leak for months.

Do these mistakes apply to veteran players?

Most apply to new players. Veterans have already learned the rest, but #3 (private servers) and #8 (ignoring updates) still cost veteran players a lot of Points-per-hour.

Are there any safe Robux purchases?

Yes — see the Robux vs Free guide for the full breakdown. The 80 Robux pack is the only positive-EV purchase in the current catalog.
