Two kinds of strings show up in catalog chat

Players in this amazing game paste numbers and paste tokens. They call both “codes.” Only one of those shapes is a Roblox catalog item ID. The other is usually an outfit/share string. Gift-style in-game codes are a third shape, and as of August 2026 we have 0 verified ones — see All Codes and the Codes Hub.

This page is the decoder ring for the first two shapes. Pair it with the client-side Outfit ID classifier when you want a second opinion without sending the string to a stranger’s website.

Numeric IDs (catalog items)

Roblox catalog assets use integer IDs. They appear in URLs like roblox.com/catalog/ID/name. Catalog experiences usually show that number on a details card when you try on an item. A long all-digit paste in a 12-player server is more often a hat ID than a secret wallet.

What you can do with a numeric ID:

• Open the public catalog page on Roblox.com to see type (hat, hair, layered, bundle, animation) and whether it is free, paid, limited, or offsale.
• Wear it in this amazing game if the in-experience search or ID field accepts numbers — catalog tools usually do.
• Rebuild a look on the website Avatar editor after saving fails for unowned pieces.

What you cannot do:

• Turn the number into Robux.
• Force a limited into your inventory.
• Redeem it on Settings → Promocodes and expect the hat to appear.

We will not publish a giant ID list. IDs go stale, get renamed, and get copied from the wrong game. Use the catalog page as the live source. This wiki ranks types on Catalog Hub, not SKU tables.

Alphanumeric outfit / share codes

Catalog try-on tools often encode a full look as a mixed string: letters and numbers, sometimes with dashes. That string is a recipe for slots, not a single asset. Paste it only into an outfit-load field. Classify doubtful pastes with Outfit ID. After load, you still must save owned pieces if you want the look on your account.

How this wiki’s tools use IDs

• Outfit ID — local classifier: digits versus mixed versus junk.
• Item Search — keyword to search plan (hats, hair, limited, free, layered). No network, no ID database.
• Code Checker — gift-code list, currently an empty JSON object. A catalog ID will show as unknown there, which is correct: it is not a verified experience code.

Finding IDs when the experience hides them

If the UI omits numbers, catalog experiences usually still let you click “View on Roblox” or similar. You can also search the catalog by name you saw on the thumbnail. Bundle IDs differ from the IDs of pieces inside the bundle. If a bundle preview looks right but save fails, you may have stored the bundle ID while owning only a shirt. Check each slot.

Safety around ID pastes

A “check this ID” link that is not roblox.com is a red flag. So is a Discord bot that asks you to log in to resolve IDs. So is a message that says the ID is a code that expires in five minutes. Never put an ID into an executor “catalog sniper.” Current Scripts notes we found no verified game-specific scripts; sniper pastes are still a ban risk.

Close: IDs are boring, and that is why they work
